For a beautiful paint finish, the wood needs to be completely dry and have no more than 12% moisture content. Once the wood is dry, scrape off any resin exudations. Then, apply Polyprep 205-112 to seal knots and smooth out rough spots, filling cracks and nail holes. This coating also helps match the wood colour.
